Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower has officially announced the implementation of a new summer working schedule for 2026, aiming to improve workplace efficiency while ensuring employee comfort during the hot season, with the system set to run from June 1 through August 31 as part of an institutional productivity strategy.
According to the issued administrative circular, daily working hours will be reduced by one hour, bringing the total official workday to six hours, a move designed to adapt to seasonal conditions and enhance flexibility across government entities.
The circular specifies that morning attendance will begin between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, with employees required to complete six full working hours, while also allowing a 30 minute grace period after 8:00 AM to support smoother attendance without disrupting workflow.
Female employees will benefit from additional privileges, including a daily early departure of 15 minutes, with an extra 30 minutes granted if the morning grace period is not used, reinforcing work life balance and accommodating personal responsibilities.
The evening shift has been structured from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM totaling 4.5 working hours with a similar grace period, while the circular also introduces an optional unpaid partial schedule reduction of four hours daily within defined time slots, with normal working hours set to resume after the end of August under the standard system.
