Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education has introduced a new digital service through its Education Portal, allowing school principals to formally complete and document the closure of each school day. The service requires an electronic form to be filled out at the end of the school day and is intended to improve administrative monitoring and the consistency of school operations.

The initiative provides school leaders with a structured method for confirming that essential educational and administrative duties have been completed. It also allows principals to record observations and document any corrective action taken when shortcomings or operational problems arise during the day.

According to the published details, the daily closure form includes student attendance and absences, as well as teacher attendance and absences. These records are intended to help school administrations review daily attendance information and verify that important operational requirements have been addressed.

The service goes beyond attendance monitoring. It also covers security and safety arrangements, maintenance, cleanliness, end-of-day staff duties and the procedures used to supervise students as they leave school. These checks are designed to support orderly school operations and reinforce attention to student safety.

Student behavioural incidents are another component of the electronic form. School administrators can document relevant observations and the measures taken in response, creating a more consistent record of matters requiring attention or follow-up.

To use the service, principals access the Education Portal and select the school-day closure function. They then complete the required fields according to the actual conditions and events of the day, including any observations and the actions taken to address identified problems.

Before submitting the form, school administrators must review the information and confirm its accuracy. This final verification step is intended to improve the reliability of the recorded data and support more effective monitoring of school performance.

Importantly, the announcement concerns an administrative service for school principals. It does not, by itself, introduce new fees for parents or announce additional penalties for students. Existing attendance and student conduct regulations remain subject to the applicable educational rules.

The launch reflects a broader emphasis on digital school management, bringing together attendance monitoring, safety procedures, operational checks and student departure arrangements in a single daily reporting process. The objective is to help school leaders maintain organised, accountable and efficient educational environments.
