Kuwait’s Ministry of Education is reportedly preparing to reopen its academic certificate upload platform on Monday, October 26, 2026, as part of ongoing procedures to verify employees’ educational qualifications. The expected reopening comes with specific documentation requirements for non-Kuwaiti employees seeking recognition of academic credentials obtained abroad.
According to educational sources cited by Kuwait’s Al-Anba newspaper, the platform is currently closed but is scheduled to resume receiving certificates and supporting documents. The process is intended to allow affected employees to complete their qualification verification files in coordination with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education.
The sources explained that expatriate employees requiring academic equivalency must first complete the relevant procedures with the Ministry of Higher Education. The Education Ministry’s contracting department is expected to communicate with the competent authority, after which the employee obtains an official receipt or proof of submitting the equivalency application.
This proof must then be uploaded to the designated equivalency section of the Education Ministry’s electronic platform, allowing the employee’s academic documentation to proceed through the required verification process.
Required documents include an officially authenticated copy of the original academic certificate, an authenticated academic transcript, copies of the employee’s Civil ID and passport, and an official letter from the employer addressed to the Ministry of Higher Education requesting recognition of the relevant qualification.
Additional documentation applies to certain qualifications. Certificates issued by private universities in Egypt require a copy of the equivalency issued by Egypt’s Supreme Council of Universities. Applicants must also provide evidence of the academic qualification used for admission, such as a secondary school certificate, diploma or bachelor’s degree, depending on the credential under review.
The sources further explained that secondary school certificates issued outside Kuwait, as well as certificates from private schools within Kuwait, must be authenticated by the Private Education Department in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Block 2. Certificates issued by Kuwaiti government schools are exempt from this particular requirement.
Applications for academic equivalency are submitted through the Ministry of Higher Education’s official website using the Equivalency System. Employees who do not already have an account must create one, enter the required information and upload the relevant supporting documents.
After submitting the application electronically, applicants must book an appointment through their accounts and visit the Ministry of Higher Education’s M3 reception hall to complete the necessary procedures. They can subsequently track the status of their applications through the same online system.
According to the published information, the Academic Certificate Equivalency Department receives visitors from Sunday through Wednesday, between 8:30 AM and 12:45 PM. Affected employees are advised to prepare their documents in advance and consult official ministry announcements for confirmation of platform availability and applicable requirements.
