Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of six individuals of Asian nationalities in connection with three separate cases involving suspected narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The estimated market value of the seized materials exceeded BD27,000, according to an official statement published on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
The operations were carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science. Two of the three cases involved coordination with Customs Affairs, highlighting cooperation between the authorities responsible for investigating suspected drug-related offences.
According to the ministry, the investigations began after security officials received information concerning the incidents. Specialised teams subsequently conducted inquiries and gathered relevant intelligence to identify the individuals suspected of involvement.
These investigations resulted in the identification and arrest of six suspects. Officers also seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances allegedly found in their possession, together with sums of money believed to represent proceeds from the sale of illegal substances.
The Interior Ministry stated that the estimated combined market value of the seized drugs and psychotropic materials was more than BD27,000. The statement did not specify the precise types or quantities of substances recovered, nor did it provide a breakdown of the value associated with each individual case.
Authorities confirmed that the seized items had been secured and that the necessary legal procedures had been completed. All three cases were referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and any subsequent action required under Bahraini law.
The involvement of Customs Affairs in two of the operations was a notable aspect of the announcement. However, the ministry did not disclose additional details concerning the locations of the arrests, the suspects’ ages or the circumstances of each incident.
It is important to distinguish the arrests from criminal convictions. The six individuals were identified as suspects, and the official announcement did not report any final court judgments against them. Their cases remain subject to the applicable investigative and judicial procedures.
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science also emphasised the importance of public cooperation in combating drug-related crime. Officials encouraged residents to share credible information that could assist investigators in identifying suspicious activities.
Citizens and residents can report information relating to suspected drug offences through the dedicated hotline 996 or by emailing 996@interior.gov.bh. The authorities stated that reports and information submitted through these channels would be treated confidentially.
The announcement reflects Bahrain’s continuing enforcement efforts against suspected drug trafficking and distribution activities, including intelligence gathering, cooperation between security agencies and referral of investigated cases to the competent prosecution authorities.
