Bahrain has witnessed a significant political development after its parliament voted to expel three members over accusations of supporting Iran and praising its attacks, marking a clear escalation in handling such sensitive matters.
The decision followed an official request approved by lawmakers to revoke the membership of Abdul Nabi Salman, Mahdi Al Showaikh, and Mamdouh Al Saleh, with local media confirming that the move received unanimous backing inside the parliament.
Reports indicated that an extraordinary parliamentary session was held specifically for this issue, where all members voted in favor after a formal request submitted by 37 MPs and supported by the legislative committee following a legal review.
The parliament based its decision on Article 99 of the constitution, which regulates penalties for breaching membership duties, after accusing the three MPs of criticizing state measures against individuals accused of praising Iranian attacks, which was considered a serious violation.
This move comes amid a broader political escalation, especially after strong statements by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who criticized certain lawmakers and stressed that they must either issue a clear apology to restore public trust or face consequences for aligning with what he described as disloyal elements.
