ABU DHABI: The Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis) has called upon all UAE nationals working in the private sector and relevant establishments to adhere to the new regulatory framework regarding minimum salary requirements. The Council confirmed that eligibility for financial support programs is now strictly contingent upon a minimum monthly salary of AED 6,000, a strategic move aimed at enhancing the financial and family stability of national cadres while elevating the quality of employment opportunities within the private and financial sectors.

Nafis emphasized that this decision aligns with federal directives to regulate the wages of UAE nationals. For individuals currently earning below the threshold in entities not governed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) or the Central Bank—such as free zone companies—a "Gradual Update Mechanism" will be implemented over a 15-month period. Starting September 2026, financial benefits will be phased out across three stages, providing employers and employees sufficient time to rectify their status by either adjusting salaries or seeking better career opportunities.

The authorities clarified that access to salary support programs is subject to rigorous eligibility criteria to ensure maximum transparency. Key requirements include mandatory registration in pension funds and the disbursement of wages through approved channels, such as the "Wages Protection System" (WPS). These measures serve as a cornerstone of the Emiratisation ecosystem, ensuring the rights of UAE nationals and maintaining equity and consistency across all operating establishments in the country.

In line with strict regulatory oversight, Nafis announced that non-compliant employers may face penalties and administrative actions. UAE nationals whose salaries fall below the mandated minimum are encouraged to file formal grievances through MoHRE’s official channels, including its website, smart application, or call center. This ensures a robust deterrent against violations and safeguards the professional trajectory of the national workforce.

In its concluding statement, Nafis underscored that the upcoming phase prioritizes "Quality and Sustainability" in Emiratisation rather than temporary financial aid. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to providing full technical support through its digital platforms and call centers to address all inquiries, ensuring the continued empowerment of Emirati talent in the labor market in accordance with the highest standards of the National Agenda.
