Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken a significant step toward strengthening labor rights by holding a joint coordination meeting with the Public Authority for Manpower, reflecting a strategic push to enhance institutional collaboration and align labor policies with evolving international standards and global expectations.

The meeting brought together senior officials from both entities, including key leadership figures responsible for human rights and legal affairs, alongside the Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower and a group of specialists focused on labor policies and international cooperation frameworks.

Officials emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader effort to reinforce institutional integration and improve coordination in handling labor-related issues, particularly those linked to international labor markets, recruitment mechanisms, and compliance with bilateral agreements signed with labor-sending countries.

Discussions covered a wide range of critical topics, including the protection of both employer and worker rights, alignment with international observations and compliance requirements, as well as the regulation of employment contracts to reduce disputes and challenges, with a strong focus on combating human trafficking and improving regulatory oversight.

The meeting also explored opportunities to diversify sources of domestic labor recruitment while enhancing service quality across sectors, highlighting the importance of international agreements as a foundation for strengthening bilateral relations and ensuring adherence to global labor standards, which ultimately supports Kuwait’s international standing and reinforces its commitment to labor rights and institutional excellence.
