The UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted two drones launched from Iran, underscoring the country’s heightened military readiness to counter any aerial threats targeting its territory.
Officials stated that the interception was carried out with precision and without any resulting damage, reflecting the advanced capabilities of the UAE’s defense infrastructure and its ongoing preparedness amid rising regional tensions.
In a parallel development, the UAE strongly condemned a terrorist drone attack that targeted a commercial cargo vessel within Qatari territorial waters, which led to a limited fire onboard the ship but did not result in any casualties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that this attack constitutes a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and poses a serious threat to its national security and stability, reaffirming the UAE’s full solidarity with Qatar.
Authorities highlighted that targeting commercial vessels is a direct breach of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which stresses the protection of global maritime navigation and the safety of shipping lanes.
The statement also warned against the use of strategic waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, as tools for political or economic pressure, noting that such actions amount to piracy and threaten global energy security.
The Ministry of Defense revealed significant interception statistics since the escalation began, including 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,265 drones, marking one of the most extensive air defense operations in the region.
According to official data, no casualties were recorded in recent hours, while the total number of fatalities since the beginning of the attacks stands at two martyrs and one Moroccan civilian contractor, alongside 10 civilian deaths of various nationalities.
In addition, a total of 230 injuries have been reported among individuals from multiple nationalities, highlighting the scale and seriousness of the situation despite ongoing preventive measures and strict security protocols.
The Ministry concluded by reaffirming that the UAE Armed Forces remain on full alert and are fully prepared to respond decisively to any threats, ensuring the protection of national sovereignty, stability, and critical assets.
