Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, has inaugurated Dar Al Rahma Orphanage and led the groundbreaking for a 60-home village in Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur, in the Philippines.

The village, named Al Reeh Al Mursala Village, is being supported by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority in cooperation with Sharjah Charity International. According to the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), the project is intended to improve housing conditions and quality of life for underprivileged families in the province.

SGMB said Sheikh Sultan’s visit reflected the UAE’s longstanding focus on humanitarian and charitable work, including support for people in need in different parts of the world. The bureau described this work as conveying values of goodness, compassion and humanity among people of different races and ethnicities.

During the visit, Sheikh Sultan stressed the value of integrated charitable projects that support the stability of people in need and their families. Such projects, he said, should help beneficiaries live with dignity and contribute to educated and productive communities.

Housing, water and vocational support

Al Reeh Al Mursala Village will comprise 60 houses, with each home containing two bedrooms and a living room. Plans also include an artesian well to provide residents with a sustainable supply of clean water.

A vocational centre will form part of the village, offering residents opportunities to strengthen their skills and develop their capabilities. The centre is also intended to help create sustainable sources of income for families.

SGMB said the village was made possible through donations and philanthropic contributions to the Al Reeh Al Mursala programme. The programme is broadcast on Sharjah TV and Sharjah Radio, which are affiliated with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, in cooperation with Sharjah Charity International.

Orphanage facilities

Sheikh Sultan also formally opened Dar Al Rahma Orphanage, which has capacity for 50 orphans. The facility has been equipped to meet residents’ daily needs and includes an electric-powered well to supply clean water.

The orphanage also includes commercial shops intended to support local products and generate sustainable income, as well as a restaurant and administrative offices.

During his tour, Sheikh Sultan inspected four classrooms, including a computer laboratory with educational resources designed to build the children’s digital skills. He also visited a sewing institute for mothers, where participants can develop sewing skills and produce garments and textiles to help support household income.
