Kuwait’s Ministry of Education has launched an investigation after several female students at a secondary school recently experienced breathing difficulties.

The ministry confirmed on Monday that the students had suffered cases described as suffocation. It said all of those affected were in stable condition.

The girls received medical attention after the incidents were reported. Authorities have begun examining what caused the cases, the circumstances surrounding them and whether anyone was responsible.

The ministry said relevant authorities are directly monitoring the students’ health. It reiterated that protecting students, as well as educational and administrative staff, remains its foremost priority.

Investigation to determine responsibility

Officials said the inquiry will establish the cause of the incident and identify any party found to be accountable. Appropriate action will be taken in line with the findings.

The Ministry of Education also said it would not tolerate conduct that compromises security and safety within schools or puts students and staff at risk. It stressed that violations of school rules and regulations would be addressed firmly.

Anyone found responsible will be subject to the applicable code of conduct and related regulations, according to the outcome of the investigation.
