The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Thursday that it carried out strikes targeting military sites inside Kuwait, marking a sharp escalation in regional tensions between Iran and the United States and raising concerns over a broader confrontation in the Gulf.

In an official statement, the IRGC said the operation targeted a large military equipment warehouse in Al-Adiri Camp as well as Ali Al Salem Air Base, which hosts a US military presence, describing the strikes as a direct response to recent American actions against Iranian territory.

The statement claimed that the attacks resulted in the destruction of a major storage facility, a Patriot missile defense system, and a hangar housing American MQ-9 drones, indicating what could represent significant military losses if independently verified by relevant authorities.

The IRGC also said it targeted a communications tower in retaliation for attacks on communication infrastructure inside Iran, adding that US troop deployment areas and two helicopter hangars in Al-Adiri Camp were hit, resulting in casualties and substantial damage to helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said in a statement posted on X that the explosion sounds heard were the result of intercepting and destroying hostile targets, urging citizens and residents to follow official safety instructions, while the Iranian military also announced additional drone strikes targeting three US bases inside Kuwait.
