Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has advised motorists to prepare for possible traffic delays on Sunday, October 4, while the second Proud of UAE Cycling Race takes place across the emirate.
The RTA said road users could encounter disruptions between 6am and 8.30am as cyclists participate in the event. Residents have been urged to organise their trips in advance, set aside additional travel time and comply with traffic signage and directions issued by the relevant authorities.
80km race begins at Nad Al Sheba Centre
Organised by Dubai Police General Command, the 80-kilometre race will get under way from Nad Al Sheba Centre at 6am. It forms part of the season’s cycling programme.
The event is being held in cooperation with the UAE Cycling Federation, Dubai Sports Council and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.
Dubai Police said the race offers a total prize purse of Dh140,000. The event is among sporting and national activities intended to foster pride in the UAE and mark the country’s achievements. It also promotes sport as part of everyday life and supports the health and well-being of the community.
