Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani reaffirmed his country’s commitment to de-escalation during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, stressing the urgent need for all parties to engage constructively with ongoing mediation efforts.
He emphasized that meaningful dialogue remains the most effective path to resolving the crisis, calling for a sustainable agreement that addresses root causes and prevents renewed escalation, especially amid rising regional tensions.
The Qatari official highlighted the critical importance of keeping maritime corridors open and ensuring freedom of navigation, warning against using vital shipping routes as leverage or bargaining tools in geopolitical disputes.
He noted that any disruption to maritime traffic could have severe consequences for regional stability as well as global energy and food supply chains, ultimately impacting international peace and security in a highly interconnected world.
The call also covered the latest developments regarding the ceasefire, with both sides underlining the importance of maintaining and reinforcing it as a key step toward restoring stability and creating space for comprehensive political solutions.
