The Presidential Court of the United Arab Emirates has announced an official period of mourning following the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the father of the Emir of Qatar, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations.

According to the official statement, the mourning period will last for four days, starting Sunday, July 12, and ending at the close of Wednesday, July 15.

During this period, flags will be flown at half-staff across all government entities within the UAE, as well as at its embassies and diplomatic missions abroad.

The decision reflects the UAE’s commitment to diplomatic traditions and its expression of solidarity with the State of Qatar during this time of loss.

The statement concluded with prayers for the deceased, asking that he be granted mercy and a place in paradise, while extending condolences to the Al Thani family, affirming that to God we belong and to Him we shall return.
