His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, has issued an official circular regarding the Labour Day holiday for 2026, clarifying the compensation mechanism to ensure transparency for all government employees.

The circular stated that Labour Day, which fell on Friday, May 1, 2026, was observed as an official holiday across ministries, authorities, and public institutions in the Kingdom, in line with international recognition of the occasion.

Given that the official holiday coincided with a weekly day off, the directive confirmed the implementation of a substitute day, following established administrative regulations that guarantee employees receive their full entitlement to public holidays.

According to the announcement, Sunday, May 3, 2026, has been designated as the official compensatory holiday for all ministries and public sector entities, ensuring employees benefit from an alternative rest day in an organized manner.

This decision reflects the government’s commitment to fairness and clarity in employment policies, while emphasizing the importance of following official channels for accurate updates regarding working hours and public holidays across the Kingdom.
