Egyptian TV personality Yasmin Ezz has once again stirred the ire of Zamalek fans with her recent mocking comments about the team's players. The incident occurred just before Zamalek's critical away game against Algerian club USM Alger in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final.
The match is scheduled to take place at the July 5 Stadium this Saturday, and it's expected to be a challenging encounter for the Zamalek team, often referred to as the 'White Knights'.
During her Friday night appearance on MBC Masr, Ezz made several sarcastic remarks about the team, singling out Brazilian star Juan Bezerra. She humorously commented on the team's seemingly good fortune and health, saying, "Zamalek moves like a slow train but with great luck. I wish I had half of it."
She further added that none of the players have suffered serious injuries throughout their campaign: "No one has fallen or torn anything or got an ACL injury. Their health is strangely robust as if they're drinking lion's soup."
Continuing her tongue-in-cheek critique, Ezz mentioned Juan Bezerra, jokingly calling him by different names and said, "He dances past everyone. Even if he worked with Reda El Bahrawy, he wouldn't do that." Her comments likened Bezerra to a monkey that never falls or breaks, which many fans found offensive.
This isn't the first time Yasmin Ezz has found herself in hot water with Zamalek supporters. Back in April, she was embroiled in a dispute with the club after making what was perceived as derisive comments about their performance and fanbase. The club's management filed a formal complaint with Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation.
At that time, Ezz expressed disbelief over Zamalek reaching the semifinals of the Confederation Cup, doubting their continued success while noting rivals Al Ahly's exit from the Champions League.
Following backlash, she issued a formal apology to Zamalek and reiterated her apology publicly on air, which led to the club withdrawing their complaint.
