The United Arab Emirates has strengthened its position in international economic rankings after taking the top spot among Arab countries in the Economic Freedom pillar of the Legatum Prosperity Index.
The UAE recorded 77.33 points, placing it first in the Arab world and ahead of other regional economies in a ranking that reflects the strength of the economic and regulatory environment.
Oman ranked second among Arab countries, followed by Qatar in third place. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan came next in the regional ranking.
The assessment considers several key factors, including property rights, voluntary trade, taxation, monetary stability, the rule of law, and the enforcement of commercial and investment contracts.
The UAE’s performance highlights the impact of recent economic and legislative reforms aimed at improving the business environment, attracting foreign investment, and accelerating economic diversification beyond oil.
The ranking also reflects the growing competitiveness of Gulf Cooperation Council economies, as Gulf states continue to modernize their economic and legal frameworks.
Meanwhile, the differences between Arab economies underline the need for broader structural reforms, particularly in investment protection, monetary stability, and business conditions.
