Kuwait launches a new visa on arrival for expats from GCC nations to boost tourism.
Kuwait has unveiled a new visa on arrival policy targeting expatriate residents of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. This initiative aims to bolster tourism by welcoming visitors from neighboring Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Announced by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al Yousef Al Sabah, the tourist visit visa is part of Kuwait's broader strategy to enhance its appeal as a travel destination within the region.
Kuwait Visa on Arrival
The implementation of Ministerial Decision No. 1386 of 2025 marks a significant shift in Kuwait's immigration policy. Published in the official gazette, Kuwait Al Youm, this decision is now in effect.
Key aspects of this new visa arrangement include:
- Applicants must possess a valid residence visa from a GCC country with at least six months remaining before expiry.
- The visit visa can be obtained upon arrival at any entry port across Kuwait.
This development supersedes Decision No. 1228 of 2008, which previously outlined conditions for the entry of GCC residents into Kuwait. It aligns with recent legislative updates under Decree Law No. 114 of 2024 concerning foreign residency requirements.
