Dubai's RTA has enforced stricter guidelines for school buses as the new academic year begins, focusing on advanced safety measures.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a call to action for school bus operators, urging them to be thoroughly prepared as the 2025–2026 academic year kicks off. The authority is emphasizing adherence to stringent safety and service standards to ensure student well-being throughout the emirate.

Aligning with its vision of establishing itself as "The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility," the RTA underscored the critical role the school transport sector plays in supporting families while bolstering public confidence in local services.

The authority stressed the necessity of incorporating advanced technologies designed to enhance onboard safety and well-being. Additionally, it encouraged strict compliance with health and safety protocols to foster a secure and nurturing learning atmosphere.

Focus on School Bus Safety

Central to its Back-to-School initiative, RTA reaffirmed that health and safety are fundamental principles. Dedicated teams are tasked with monitoring bus operators' compliance through rigorous inspection campaigns, ensuring strict adherence to Dubai’s school transport regulations.

Bus operators, along with school administrations, must provide safe and comfortable conditions for students as well as drivers and supervisors. Drivers receive explicit instructions to adhere strictly to traffic rules, particularly around schools, aiming to alleviate congestion and prevent traffic disruptions.

The RTA also requires comprehensive training programs for both drivers and bus attendants. These programs emphasize maintaining high standards in student care alongside promoting safe driving practices.

Attendants play a vital role by assisting students during boarding and alighting processes, ensuring they reach home safely by escorting them closest to their residences when necessary.

The Authority praised school operators and administrators for their continued efforts in protecting students' welfare while maintaining effective communication with parents, thereby offering reassurance about children's daily commutes.
