Dubai Police have impounded two supercars after drivers performed dangerous stunts on public roads for social media attention.
Dubai Police have taken decisive action against dangerous driving behavior, impounding two supercars following the circulation of videos showcasing perilous stunts on public roads.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, disclosed that officers identified the drivers involved through two viral recordings. The footage depicted individuals recklessly climbing onto their cars' bonnets while in motion, aiming to boost their social media presence.
Police Criticize Reckless Acts
“Such reckless actions pose significant risks not only to the drivers but also to other road users. They blatantly violate traffic regulations and are intolerable,” Brigadier bin Suwaidan stated emphatically.
In response to these violations, both vehicles were seized by Dubai authorities, who invoked Decree No. 30 of 2023. This regulation imposes a hefty fine of AED50,000 ($13,600) for retrieving impounded vehicles linked with such infractions.
The brigadier reiterated Dubai Police's unwavering stance against any form of hazardous stunts or irresponsible behavior on roadways. Furthermore, he cautioned that seeking social media fame does not justify endangering lives or breaching public safety protocols.
“Public roads are not arenas for performing stunts,” he added, condemning attempts to glorify such dangerous acts online.
The community is strongly encouraged to comply with traffic laws and report any suspicious activities via the "Police Eye" service available on the Dubai Police App or by contacting their non-emergency number 901. Such vigilance helps ensure the safety and security of all motorists and pedestrians alike.
