Dubai's RTA has streamlined its driver licensing services, reducing them from 33 to 15 as part of a digital transformation to enhance customer experience.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has significantly improved its driver licensing services by reducing the total offerings from 33 to just 15. This major shift is part of the RTA's commitment to providing a seamless, secure, and integrated digital service experience that prioritizes customer satisfaction.

This initiative aligns with the Government of Dubai’s vision of elevating the public service landscape to boost the quality of life across the emirate.

Sultan Al Akraf, Director of Driver Licensing at the RTA’s Licensing Agency, remarked, “Our initiative to redesign the customer journey and simplify the process of obtaining a driver’s license through smart channels is a vital component of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing RTA’s services and improving the overall customer experience.”

Al Akraf emphasized the focus on utilizing advanced technologies and data integration to enhance driver licensing services. Now, customers can access all RTA services through a unified app designed for vehicle owners, drivers, and public transport users.

“This initiative is part of the ‘Services 360’ plan integrated into RTA’s Dubai App, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to delivering seamless, proactive, and comprehensive services tailored to meet customer expectations and adapt to their changing needs,” he added.

The RTA is committed to elevating service quality for both corporate and individual clients, adhering to the highest international standards. This dedication is visible in the development of smart solutions, provision of advanced customer services, streamlining of procedures, and continuous enhancement of operational efficiency and sustainability.

“Our goal is to simplify procedures by minimizing steps and required visits, reducing waiting times, and ultimately boosting operational efficiency while enhancing integration with other government platforms,” Al Akraf conveyed.

A variety of services have been streamlined, including:

  • Applying for or managing a driver’s license
  • Adding new vehicle categories
  • Transferring a trainee’s file between driving institutes
  • Updating personal information
  • Renewing a license
  • Requesting a replacement in case of loss or damage

Al Akraf also mentioned that proactive notifications are now in place to further enhance user experience. All these services are fully accessible online via RTA’s official website through simplified steps, eliminating the need for customers to visit service centers.

“Furthermore, a robust range of other driver-focused services is also available,” he added.
