Disney is set to build its seventh global theme park on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island, marking a significant partnership with Miral to enhance the region's tourism appeal.
Disney has revealed its plans to construct a new theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. This announcement was made in the presence of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, during a strategic partnership agreement signing between The Walt Disney Company and Miral.
Miral, a prominent developer of immersive experiences in Abu Dhabi, will spearhead the development of the Disney Theme Park Resort along Yas Island's waterfront, an area recognized as one of the world's leading entertainment hubs.
Yas Island is strategically positioned as a gateway to major tourism markets across the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia, and Europe.
Disney Theme Park Coming to Abu Dhabi
This new venture will mark Disney's seventh theme park destination globally, following existing parks in:
- California
- Florida
- Tokyo
- Paris
- Hong Kong
- Shanghai
Sheikh Khaled highlighted that the establishment of this entertainment project underscores the global significance of the UAE, particularly Abu Dhabi's reputation as a premier leisure tourism destination.
He emphasized that the creative and cultural economy serves as a crucial pillar in diversifying the economy and boosting GDP growth in alignment with the National Strategy for Cultural and Creative Industries.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral, commented, "Abu Dhabi embodies a unique blend of authentic heritage and a bold vision for the future, as we honor our past while strategically planning for tomorrow. The collaboration with Disney illustrates the fruitful outcome of marrying visionary leadership with creative prowess. The resort will be fully developed by Miral, while Disney will oversee the creative design, attraction development, and operation to ensure an unparalleled guest experience.
Upon its completion, Miral will also manage this entertainment venue, leveraging its extensive expertise in creating and managing leading family-oriented attractions on Yas Island and throughout Abu Dhabi, in partnership with major American and European brands.
