Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has issued a fresh clarification regarding biometric fingerprint procedures, urging anyone who has not yet completed the requirement to do so as soon as possible and stressing that the rules apply to everyone without exception.

The ministry confirmed that people who fail to complete the biometric fingerprint procedure will have all of their banking and government transactions suspended, while additional measures may also be taken in accordance with the applicable regulations.

The latest clarification follows an earlier statement addressing comments attributed to the Interior Minister that had circulated on social media, with the ministry emphasising that biometric requirements are part of procedures that apply equally to everyone concerned.

According to the ministry, the Kuwaiti woman referred to in the circulated comments completed her biometric fingerprint procedure at Kuwait International Airport and was allowed to enter the country after the relevant requirements were explained to her.

The ministry also clarified that Kuwaiti citizens cannot be prevented from entering their own country, while stressing that entry does not exempt anyone from complying with national laws or completing the government procedures required of them.

Authorities reiterated that biometric fingerprint requirements apply without exception and highlighted that the country’s leadership had also complied with the procedure, reinforcing the principle that government regulations apply equally to everyone.

For anyone who has not yet completed the biometric requirement, the warning means that access to banking and government transactions could be directly affected, making prompt completion of the procedure particularly important.

Kuwait has previously provided several locations and channels for completing biometric fingerprinting, while appointments have also been available through the Meta platform and the Sahel application under the procedures established for receiving applicants.

The biometric programme is part of Kuwait’s wider efforts to strengthen identity verification, improve the accuracy of official records and enhance coordination between government systems and different public services.

The Ministry of Interior has therefore urged all affected individuals who have not completed their biometric fingerprinting to act quickly in order to avoid disruption to their banking and government transactions or any additional measures taken under the applicable rules.
