About Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines is Türkiye's national flag carrier. It was founded on 20 May 1933 as the State Airlines Administration and began operations that year. The airline uses the IATA code TK and ICAO code THY, with the callsign Turkish.
Its main operational hub is Istanbul Airport, while its headquarters are in the Yesilkoy area of Istanbul. The carrier operates passenger and cargo services linking Türkiye with cities across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East, alongside its domestic network.
The airline is part of Türkiye's state-linked aviation sector, with the Turkish state retaining an influential shareholding. Turkish Airlines has been a member of Star Alliance since 2008. Its fleet and destination totals change over time as aircraft are delivered and schedules are updated.
