Apple enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating new updates to the company's main product lines. While Apple kicked off 2026 with the release of the improved AirTag 2 and a Creator Studio app subscription designed for independent content creators, major updates to its flagship devices have yet to be announced. However, that may soon change, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Reports suggest that Apple is on the brink of unveiling new versions of its low-end iPhone, the entry-level iPad, the iPad Air, and the high-performance MacBook Pro. These updates are expected to arrive "imminently," "soon," and "shortly"—phrases that keep the tech world on its toes—as Apple prepares for further updates later in the year for the iPad mini, Studio Display, and other Mac models.
iPhone 17e
The upcoming iPhone 17e is set to be an upgraded version of Apple's basic iPhone offering. It's rumored to feature the A19 chip, similar to the one found in the regular iPhone 17, and will introduce MagSafe charging capabilities. While the 17e will likely maintain the single-lens camera setup and a notched screen without the Dynamic Island, it is expected to launch at the same $599 price point as its predecessor, the iPhone 16e. This is promising news for consumers, especially in light of the current challenges in AI-driven RAM and storage availability.
Apple's approach to its lower-end iPhone seems to be evolving. Historically, the iPhone SE received sporadic updates, with significant gaps between releases. The iPhone 16e, however, was introduced just last year, signaling a potentially more frequent update cycle for these models.
One of the main questions surrounding the 17e is whether it will coexist with the older iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, which are priced just $100 more than the current 16e. These models offer a dual-lens camera system and include the Dynamic Island feature, which might complicate the decision-making process for consumers faced with four different iPhone models within the $600-to-$800 range.
