Following months of free access, the UAE has introduced new charges for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations controlled by governments, therefore reflecting a major change.
Beginning January 2025, UAEV, the first government-owned EV charging network, will use these uniform fees in compliance with the newly published tariffs of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
New Tariffs for EV Charging
This advancement marks a turning point in UAE's quest of environmentally friendly transportation. Since May, when the pricing were first established, EV charging at UAEV stations has been complimentary, Effective January 2025, the new pricing seeks to guarantee fairness, service quality, and network scalability while supporting the more general sustainability goals of the country.
The tariffs follow this pattern:
VAT plus AED 1.2/kWh for DC chargers
VAT for AC chargers plus AED 0.70/kWh
These uniform rates represent UAEV's dedication to provide fair and open prices along its network, therefore guaranteeing operational excellence and satisfying the needs of EV drivers.
Improved User Knowledge
UAEV is presenting various creative ideas meant to improve the EV driving experience to complement the new pricing. The release of a user-friendly mobile application forms the core of this initiative. Important capabilities of the app will be:
- Finding adjacent charging stations
- Sending real-time updates on station availability.
- Turning on flawless payments
UAEV will also set up a special 24/7 call center to offer quick help, therefore guaranteeing continuous support for EV owners. These improvements show UAEV's will to provide drivers dependability, accessibility, and convenience.
Chairman of UAEV, Eng. Sharif Al Olama, underlined the initiative's transforming power in the UAE's path toward environmentally friendly transportation "This is a turning point in improving the EV driver experience in line with UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy.
