The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security has put in place special measures to make it easier for Sudanese citizens living in the UAE with outdated or faulty documents to get residency. Under this program, they can now get new visas, renew their residency permits, and get Emirates ID cards even if their passports are less than six months old.

Speaking to Emarat Al Youm, the Authority explained that this decision comes in recognition of the extraordinary circumstances unfolding in Sudan. The initiative was launched under the Authority’s jurisdiction as outlined in the UAE’s law on Entry and Residence of Foreigners, and officially came into effect on May 19, 2025. It will remain valid until the end of the current year.

Sudanese nationals who have accumulated fines for overstaying or other violations can now rectify their legal status through the Authority’s digital platforms. The process is streamlined and flexible, and applicants will be exempt from penalties — even if their passports are not fully valid.

The Authority emphasized that this decision reflects the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership to support communities facing humanitarian crises. In coordination with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the measure aims to provide stability and dignity for Sudanese residents affected by the conflict in their home country.

This move also highlights the UAE’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian values and solidarity, reinforcing its role as a global hub for compassion, tolerance, and peace. The initiative supports national efforts to promote social and humanitarian stability across the country, in line with the country’s vision of inclusive development and human dignity.
