The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is dedicated to honoring the integrity and commitment of taxi drivers who find and return valuable objects left behind by customers. Thanks to the efforts of taxi drivers, many of the things that residents and guests misplace cellphones, laptops, even large sums of cash in taxis are successfully retrieved and returned to their owners each year.

Recovery Process

When someone loses something in a taxi; the method of getting it back is simple and easily available. Call the RTA helpdesk at 800 9090 to report a missing item; include information about the license plate number of the taxi and the timings of pick-up and drop-off. Reports can also be turned in by visiting one of their service locations, the RTA app, or the RTA website, The RTA starts working to monitor the taxi and find the missing item as a report is turned in.

Return Coordination

Should the item be located, the RTA gives the customer the driver's information so they may make plans for its return, Drivers now have to be paid for their time and effort in returning items starting in early 2023, The taxi meter runs from the driver's current position when he agrees to bring the item to the consumer. Once the item arrives, the purchaser is supposed to pay for the travel expenses. Alternatively, clients can meet the driver at a specified RTA point to get their goods without paying any extra fees.

Compensation Policy

Many times, drivers who find valuable objects are given tips or awards from appreciative passengers; yet, many drivers turn down these gestures since they see their actions as part of their duty to the society. But the RTA's latest fare schedule guarantees drivers receive just compensation for their time without depending on tips.

Community Recognition

One cannot overlook the efforts of sincere cab drivers. Dubai Police paid tribute to Egyptian national Hamada Abu Zeid, a Dubai Taxi Corporation driver who returned goods worth around Dh1 million, in October 2024 Director of the Al Barsha Police Station Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi formally recognized this act of honesty by giving Zeid a certificate of gratitude, This awareness emphasizes the need of community cooperation in maintaining security and confidence inside Dubai, thereby strengthening the principles that support a safe and friendly surroundings for those living here as well as for tourists.

Promoting Trust

By means of these strategies, the RTA not only helps passengers in retrieving lost items but also promotes integrity and dependability in the Dubai transportation system. Honoring drivers for their dedication to moral behavior emphasizes the need of community values, which still define Dubai as a city upholding honesty, respect, and security.
