Dubai Launches Advanced Forensic Facility to Accelerate Crime Detection
Dubai Police is set to revolutionize forensic investigations with the construction of a state-of-the-art forensic facility in Muhaisnah, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. The ambitious project aims to transform forensic operations by introducing advanced technologies and streamlined processes to significantly speed up crime detection and enhance accuracy.
Innovative Technologies for Faster Results
Second Lieutenant Hessa Al Balushi, Assistant Biological Expert of Dubai Police, underlined the innovative aspects of the new facility at a press briefing at the Dubai Officers Club. Among the most significant developments is the use of virtual autopsy technology, which will substantially cut the ten-day to just two hour examination timeframes. The technology also reduces staff needs by 50%. The facility will make use of sophisticated CT scan technology, therefore improving result accuracy to 95%. Financial returns from 2,500 to 7,000 dirhams per instance will come from these tests.
Cutting examination times from 48 hours to 12 hours, the pathology laboratory at the facility will also be a major improvement. New tools for looking at sexual assault allegations will improve result accuracy to ninety-percent. Moreover, the facility will house the only forensic nurse in the nation, able to handle 40% of the responsibilities of a forensic doctor, therefore accelerating treatments and increasing effectiveness.
Enhanced Infrastructure and Capacity
The facility will witness a development in autopsy infrastructure; the number of autopsy tables will rise from 4 to 14, all with imaging and live transmission capability. From the present 80 units to 475 units—including 75 units especially for infectious cases—the ability to hold dead will rise dramatically. These improvements will help the institution to manage more cases with more efficiency.
Using CT and MRI technologies, the introduction of emergency autopsy services will hasten medical diagnosis and guarantee exact findings. Furthermore, embalming services will be on-site for the first time to satisfy circumstances needing the movement of bodies outside the UAE.
The new facility will also expand its services with the addition of specialized laboratories for pathology, toxicology, entomology, and blood tests. Biology examination clinics will increase from 3 to 11, including separate clinics for detainees a first in the country, The capacity for biology examinations will rise from 4,600 cases annually to 10,000, with scalability to 20,000 cases per year. Furthermore, the digitization of pathological examinations will improve both speed and accuracy.
Apart from forensic activities, the facility would comprise a center for ongoing medical education. Compared to the present capacity of 16, this facility will have a lecture hall able to accommodate up to 150 people and an educational theater with imaging and live streaming features. This focus on education guarantees that the facility will be quite important for forensic experts in knowledge-sharing and training.
Additionally offered will be specialized services such medical data analysis, virtual autopsy, and forensic dentistry, These additions show Dubai Police's dedication to remain leading edge in forensic science and satisfy various investigation needs.
The new forensic building is expected to establish a standard for forensic activities in the United Arab Emirates and the surrounding countries. Dubai Police wants to speed case resolution by using modern technologies, boosting capacity, and extending services, so improving the accuracy of forensic investigations. With these developments, the institution emphasizes Dubai's will to use creativity for law enforcement effectiveness and public safety.
