The Meteorological Department in Kuwait has forecast unstable weather conditions affecting the country including rainfall expected to begin during nighttime hours and continue until midday with the possibility of thunderstorms in some areas accompanied by active winds and chances of fog formation across several locations during the upcoming period According to the official weather outlook these conditions are linked to evolving atmospheric systems influencing the region which may lead to noticeable changes in weather patterns across Kuwait making it important for the public to follow the updates issued by the meteorological authorities regarding the expected developments in the coming hours and days.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dirar Al Ali explained in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency KUNA that the anticipated rainfall is the result of a surface low pressure system extending over the region accompanied by a warm and humid air mass while a cold low pressure system is present in the upper layers of the atmosphere This combination contributes to the formation and multiplication of low and medium level clouds over the country which may produce thunderstorms in some areas He noted that the interaction between warm moist air near the surface and colder air aloft often leads to the development of convective clouds capable of producing thunder and rainfall.
Al Ali added that the chances of rainfall are expected to start around midnight and continue until midday with winds initially blowing from the northwest before gradually shifting to southeasterly winds that will be light to moderate in speed but may become active at intervals These winds are also expected to lead to higher sea waves which could rise to more than six feet in some marine areas making it necessary for fishermen boat users and people planning marine activities to exercise caution during periods of increased wind activity and rough sea conditions.
He further explained that the expected weather situation may also bring chances of fog formation in certain areas especially during evening and early morning hours which could lead to reduced horizontal visibility in some locations Drivers and road users are therefore advised to remain cautious particularly on highways and open roads where fog formation may affect visibility and traffic safety during the periods when atmospheric moisture and calm winds support fog development.
Al Ali concluded his statement by indicating that weather conditions are expected to gradually improve after the afternoon period as cloud cover and rainfall chances begin to decrease with the advancement of a high pressure system extending into the region This development will contribute to a gradual stabilization of the atmosphere and a return to more stable weather conditions after the temporary period of unsettled weather affecting the country while the Meteorological Department continues to monitor atmospheric developments and provide updated forecasts and alerts to the public.
