Fujairah will host the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in May 2025, welcoming 811 athletes from 93 countries to compete in a record-setting event.

Fujairah is set to host the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships from May 10 to 14, 2025, under the esteemed patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Fujairah. The event will take place at the Zayed Sports Complex.

Announced during a recent press conference in Fujairah, this remarkable championship will welcome 811 athletes, aged 12 to 14, from 93 countries, marking a record global participation.

The competition will feature ten weight divisions for both boys and girls, encompassing categories from under 33kg to over 65kg for boys, and under 29kg to over 59kg for girls.

Additionally, the event will include the World Taekwondo Refugee Team, Individual Neutral Athletes, and participants competing under the World Taekwondo flag, highlighting inclusivity within the sport.

During the press conference, Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee and President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation, emphasized that this event aligns with the Crown Prince's vision to elevate Fujairah as a top global sporting hub. "We are proud of this achievement and will collaborate closely with all partners to ensure the championship’s success across all facets," he stated.

Dr. Choue Chung-won, the President of World Taekwondo, commended Fujairah’s readiness to host this significant cadet competition, praising the UAE’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and robust institutional support for sports. He remarked, "The World Taekwondo Cadet Championships 2025 in Fujairah is the largest of its kind globally, featuring over 800 athletes. The inclusion of a refugee team infuses a humanitarian aspect, conveying a noble message that transcends competitive boundaries."

Nader Abu Shawish, the Event Director, expressed pride in the role of the Higher Organising Committee in hosting this prestigious event. He mentioned, "We believe it will greatly benefit the development of our local players by providing them the chance to compete with future world champions. Our objective is to create a unique sporting experience for all our guests and showcase the young talent within the UAE."
