The first half of 2025 saw Dubai's taxi sector grow by an impressive seven percent compared to the previous year. With nearly sixty million taxi journeys recorded and over one hundred three million passengers transported during this period.

Dubai's taxi industry showcased a remarkable 7% growth in the first half of 2025, as reported by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This uptick highlights the city's robust transportation framework during this period.

The number of taxi trips reached an impressive 59.5 million, ascending from 55.7 million in H1 2024. Simultaneously, passenger figures surged from 97 million to a staggering 103.5 million.

Hala Taxi's influence expanded significantly, capturing a market share increase from 40.3% in H1 2024 to 41.3% in H1 2025-reflecting a growth surge of approximately 2.5%.

Within this timeframe, the sector saw its cadre of active drivers grow from about 13,000 to nearly 14,000 individuals.

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency, remarked that these results underscore "the emirate’s economic vibrancy," reinforcing its status as a premier global hub for both investment and tourism.

The sector also reported unprecedented strides in e-hailing services, hourly vehicle rentals, and Hala Taxi bookings.

In H1 2024, approximately 70% of Hala Taxi trips had an estimated arrival time within four minutes

By H1 2025, this improved with around 74% of trips arriving within three and a half minutes

Shakri noted these enhancements demonstrate the sector’s dedication to boosting service efficiency and ensuring customer satisfaction.

With increased demand prompting quicker response times and a growing pool of drivers, Dubai’s taxi industry continues to play an integral role in supporting both the city’s transport network and its thriving tourism economy.
