Private schools in Abu Dhabi introduced new regulations governing communication during remote learning, strictly prohibiting direct contact between teachers and students عبر personal phones, messaging applications, or non official email channels, in a move aimed at ensuring a secure and structured learning environment.

Schools outlined three specific cases where communication with parents is permitted, including student absence from three or more classes within a week, concerns related to student wellbeing, or indicators of academic risk, ensuring that intervention occurs only when necessary under defined conditions.

According to official communications sent to parents, the updated policy issued by the Department of Education and Knowledge defines the approved communication channels with students, limiting them to school email accounts and official learning platforms such as Teams, Canvas, and Toddle to maintain consistency and protect privacy.

The policy strictly bans the use of mobile phones, text messages, or social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Signal for communication with students, while approved channels for parents include phone calls, text messages, email, or official school platforms like iSAMS, ClassDojo, and Toddle, alongside strict adherence to absence management protocols.

Schools clarified that contacting parents occurs only after exhausting all official follow up methods with the student, except in emergency situations related to student health and safety, where immediate phone contact is required, reinforcing the priority of student wellbeing at all times.
