In the first two weeks of the amnesty program, almost 4,000 people have been questioned by various companies, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai revealed on Wednesday.

58 people have been placed in jobs that correspond with their backgrounds and skills, while the process of regularizing the status of others is still in progress.

Residence laws in the Emirates

GDRFA emphasized that the program's goal is to give those who have violated residency laws a regular status within the nation.

"Including employment opportunities in this initiative is a major step that promotes economic empowerment and strengthens social cohesion, leading to a more prosperous and stable society," GDRFA continued.

Date of application of this amnesty

According to GDRFA, the amnesty program will be in effect from September 1 until October 30. Visa infringers who have been living in the UAE unlawfully can now look forward to a better future because the program permits them to leave the nation without facing any penalties, fines, or bans.

Eighty-seven percent of those who applied and were granted amnesty during the first week wanted to remain in the nation. In the first week of the program, 20,000 applications were received in Dubai alone. A work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, a senior GDRFA official before, is required for those who want to stay in the UAE.

Numerous businesses have scheduled in-person interviews in the Al Awir tent in order to streamline the job search process. Hamza Gul was among the first to land a job after the Khaleej Times covered his ordeal, attracting the interest of employers with his tale.

In an attempt to normalize his situation during the current amnesty program, Gul spent a restless night on the streets after showing up outside GDRFA in Al Awir on August 31.

Illegal immigrants have been advised by authorities and consulates to take advantage of this chance before the deadline. Amnesty services will be offered in all Amer centers in Dubai as well as the GDRFA center in Al Awir. ICP centers may be found in Al Dhafra, Al Maqa, Al Shahama, and Suwaihan, Abu Dhabi.

Overstayers may also apply online, through authorized typing centers, and at ICP centers located all around the United Arab Emirates.
