Authorities have announced a temporary traffic detour on Emirates Road beginning Thursday, December 11, 2025, as construction work begins on a significant portion of the route. The project would necessitate the closure of the service road for cars driving from Ras Al Khaimah to Al Dhaid at Bridge 7, forcing drivers to utilize approved alternate routes throughout the construction period.

The diversion routes include Bridge 6 and the new Khor Fakkan Road tunnel, which was recently built to facilitate traffic flow between the eastern and central areas.

The Emirates Road corridor is being brought in as part of larger federal initiatives to improve safety and capacity on the country's key roadways. Similar traffic diversions have been employed in prior years during expansion projects, notably the proposed 2024 development at the Al Badi Interchange in Sharjah.

Authorities advise drivers to obey signs, pay attention to changing traffic patterns, and emphasize safe driving in work zones.
