The UAE has launched a novel project aiming at motivating young innovators under the age of 21, by waiving patent registration expenses for researchers and students.

Launched by the Ministry of Economy on Monday, the new project known as "Patent Hive" aims to improve the nation's standing as a worldwide center of invention and creativity by means of a larger endeavor, By simplifying the registration process and removing financial constraints for young researchers, this project is meant to greatly increase the patent granting rate. The UAE wants to foster creativity among students and young professionals by making patent applications more easily available, therefore safeguarding their ground-breaking ideas and assuring support for them.

The Patent Hive initiative stands out mostly for its capacity to significantly cut the time needed for patent registration. Under this new procedure, registering a patent in the UAE has taken just six months, whereas formerly it took about 42 months, More inventors are expected to apply for patents thanks to this accelerated process, so supporting the UAE's aim of rising the registered patent count from 4,481 to 6,000 by 2026. 

The UAE is strengthening its dedication to build a knowledge-based economy and validating its position as a hub for technology development and research by raising the effectiveness of the patent registration system.

Officials from universities and research facilities from throughout the UAE attended the Patent Hive project launch event. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh underlined the continuous efforts of the UAE to create a strong intellectual property environment. He underlined that the government is dedicated to create a conducive environment for inventors since intellectual property is a pillar of economic development, "As a basic foundation for the expansion of the national economy, intellectual property has been developed by the UAE with remarkable leaps. In keeping with worldwide best practices, we have sought to create a national framework that supports and safeguards intellectual property in many spheres, including patent registration and paperwork," Al Saleh said.

He underlined even more how important the Patent Hive initiative will be in realizing UAE aspirations of being a worldwide center for the digital economy.
