Before the visa amnesty program ends on December 31, 2024, a top official from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has advised unlawful UAE residents to use it.
Beginning on September 1, the amnesty initially had an October 31 deadline but was extended to offer overstayers additional time to regularize their residency status or return to their home countries without running fines or penalties.
Director General of the GDRFA Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri underlined the need of making use of the last days of the amnesty. "The amnesty is nearing its end, and overstayers who haven't resolved their residency violations must act now,," he said, underlining that the program is a one-time chance to fix residency infractions free from punitive penalties.
Strongened Enforcement Strict actions and thorough inspection campaigns would follow the end of the grace period, Major General Salah Al Qamzi, Assistant Director General of the Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Sector, said. "Once the amnesty period ends, inspection campaigns will start immediately to ensure compliance and improve community security," he stated, stressing "Our goal is to uphold laws with justice and transparency."
Al Marri asked the locals to help to raise knowledge about the amnesty scheme. "The amnesty has been a success; many illegal immigrants have grabbed the chance to better their circumstances," he remarked. Those who questioned the validity of the program should, he also pointed out, rely on its intention. "Some still come to my office inquiring about the validity of the amnesty. Al Marri reassured everyone to act before the deadline: we are here to help.
Families and people have much benefited from the amnesty scheme. Al Marri shared success stories including those of families reunited with their native countries and children who now have access to basic services such vaccines. "Children without visas who were unable to receive vaccinations were reported; Dubai Health intervened to offer treatment.
He also commended the commitment of GDRFA teams, who put out great effort to help people either normalizing their situation or enabling their return home, Al Marri said, "I am tremendously proud of my team; they have helped countless people go back to their families and start anew."
Al Marri asked overstayers to use the opportunity to start a new chapter as the amnesty date drew near. "For those still living in violation of residency rules, this is a pivotal point with less than 15 days left," he said. " settling your status immediately will help you prevent fines, legal problems, and later regret. This program is about providing people fresh starts on life.
Apart from helping people solve their residence problems, the visa amnesty program has shown the UAE's dedication to humanitarian principles and community welfare, Still, the clock is running out, hence those who have not yet embraced the initiative are advised to act right away. Through clearing the path for a more stable and safe future, the program presents a rare chance to avert fines, legal consequences, and uncertainty.
