The UAE is offering 10,000 air-conditioned rest areas for delivery workers to use during the 'Noon Work Ban' from mid-June to mid-September. This initiative, endorsed by both government bodies and the private sector, aims to protect workers from heat stress.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced the provision of over 10,000 air-conditioned rest areas equipped with amenities for delivery service workers across the entire country. This initiative will coincide with the implementation of the 'Noon Work Ban' from June 15 to September 15, established in cooperation with the concerned government bodies and the private sector.

Humanitarian Initiative

The ministry appreciated the efforts of all entities involved in this humanitarian initiative. Collaborators include the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, the Abu Dhabi Mobility Department of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, economic departments from various emirates, and Emirates National Oil Company. Cooperation was also extended to delivery platforms such as Talabat, Deliveroo, Noon, and Careem, along with contributions from numerous restaurants, shopping centers, retail outlets, and cloud kitchens.

The ministry highlighted the importance of this initiative, particularly as the delivery services sector is a vital logistics field characterized by the non-stationary nature of workers during the 'Noon Work Ban'. Additionally, some deliveries require swift and precise handling. Delivery workers can locate the nearest rest area using interactive maps available through certain apps.

6,000 Air-Conditioned Rest Spots

This initiative builds on last year's efforts, which saw the provision of 6,000 air-conditioned rest spots for delivery workers. The significantly expanded scope this year underscores the initiative's effectiveness in protecting laborers from heat stress during the summer's high temperatures, especially during the ban from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM.

Provision of Shaded Areas

The 'Noon Work Ban' mandates that employers provide suitable shaded areas for workers to rest, along with cooling systems and cold drinking water in quantities appropriate for the number of workers. It also demands provision of hydration tools approved by local authorities and first aid supplies at work sites.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation encourages the public to report any violations of the 'Noon Work Ban' by contacting their call center at 600590000, or through the ministry’s smart application and website.
