The UAE's public health centers and medical fitness examination facilities, operating under the Emirates Health Services Establishment in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain, have successfully conducted 3,548,990 medical tests for residency visa applicants over the past three years.
According to a report shared on its official website, the institution highlighted that these figures underscore a continual demand for medical testing services linked to residency visas.
The diversity in service delivery channels-ranging from digital platforms to print offices-ensures that user needs are met efficiently while supporting the country’s vision to enhance healthcare services and advance digital transformation.
The process for obtaining residence-related medical examinations has been streamlined into a digital format. Applicants can apply via the website or smart app using their digital identity without needing additional documentation.
Furthermore, they can select their preferred testing center and pay fees online before attending the selected center within business hours to complete their exam in just 20 minutes.
This service enables individuals to acquire a health fitness certificate necessary for residency purposes.
This certificate verifies that they are free from infectious and contagious diseases, thus allowing them either to secure new residency or renew existing permits by visiting designated medical examination centers or some public health facilities.
Emirates Health Services outlines eight straightforward steps for accessing this service: register using a digital identity; submit an application through available service channels; pay applicable fees; visit public health centers or residency examination venues with an ID or passport; proceed to the radiology department for X-rays; move on to the laboratory for blood tests.
Results are communicated via SMS, allowing applicants to download their medical test outcomes from an electronic link provided in the message.
The examination identifies various conditions including HIV/AIDS, pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), leprosy, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.
Additionally, hepatitis B vaccination is mandated for child caregivers, domestic workers and equivalents, nursery supervisors and kindergarten teachers as well as employees working in barber shops, beauty salons & health clubs alongside personnel involved in healthcare facilities.
