The Ministry of Defence announced that its air defence systems successfully intercepted nine ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles, and 148 drones launched by Iran toward the UAE, marking a significant security development and highlighting the scale of the attack confronted by the country.
According to the ministry, since the beginning of the Iranian assault, a total of 174 ballistic missiles were detected heading toward the UAE. Of these, 161 were successfully destroyed by Emirati air defence systems, while 13 fell into the sea without reaching targets on national territory.
Regarding unmanned aerial vehicles, the ministry reported that 689 Iranian drones were tracked, with 645 intercepted. Meanwhile, 44 drones landed within the country’s territory. In addition, eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed, although some caused limited collateral damage.
The attack resulted in three fatalities and 68 minor injuries, alongside material damage ranging from minor to moderate in several civilian facilities. The ministry clarified that this damage occurred as a consequence of interception operations conducted by air defence systems and fighter jets.
It further explained that the loud sounds heard across different parts of the country were the result of ballistic missile interceptions by air defence systems, as well as fighter aircraft engaging drones and cruise missiles, leading to debris falling in limited areas.
The ministry strongly condemned the military targeting, describing it as a blatant act of aggression and a clear violation of national sovereignty and international law. It affirmed that the UAE reserves its full right to respond to this escalation and to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, citizens, residents, and national interests.
Reiterating its firm stance, the ministry emphasized that the country will not compromise on safeguarding its security and stability and will implement all actions required to preserve its sovereignty and strategic assets.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Defence confirmed its full operational readiness to confront any potential threats, stressing that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors remains a top priority and that all relevant authorities remain on high alert in anticipation of any further developments.
