The government of the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates has revealed some new conditions and procedures for obtaining a new driving license in the UAE, through the digital application of the Ministry of Interior moi UAE.

Driving License Steps in the UAE

In its official statement published this morning, Sharjah Police in the United Arab Emirates announced that after passing the final test to obtain a driving license, the new license can be issued through the Ministry of Interior moi UAE application, and follow the following steps:

1- Log in with the username and password on the application.

2- Click on the "Services List" icon.

3- Select the "Issue a New Driving License" icon.

4- Add a personal photo to the application and then add the personal address to deliver the license to it.

Driving License Issuance Fees in the UAE

Sharjah Police explained that the fees for issuing a driving license in the UAE amount to approximately 300 dirhams in addition to 15 dirhams for delivery, so that the total amount is 315 dirhams.

The company said that after the customer completes the payment process digitally, the license will be delivered within 3 working days.

Applying to one of the approved driving schools

It is worth noting that the UAE government has clarified that applicants for a driving license must apply to one of the approved driving schools to obtain training sessions and pass all required tests. This decision applies to citizens and residents in the UAE.

After completing all training sessions and passing all tests, applicants from citizens and residents can obtain a new driving license valid for two years. The applicant for a driving license can start all procedures from one of the approved driving schools.

Minimum age required for a driving license in the UAE

  • For people aged 17 years and over, they can only apply for a license to drive bicycles and vehicles for people of determination.
  • For people aged 18 years and over, they can apply for a license to drive cars and light vehicles;
  • For people aged 20 years and over, they can apply for a license to drive heavy vehicles and tractors.
  • For people aged 21 years and over, they can apply for a bus driving license.

Documents required to obtain a driving license in the UAE

  1. A copy of the passport and residence visa.
  2. The original and a copy of the ID card.
  3. 2 photographs.
  4. Eye examination report.
  5. A certificate of no objection from the sponsor (if required by the relevant traffic department).
  6. Open a traffic file in one of the driving schools registered in the emirate in which you reside.
  7. Conduct an eye examination in one of the centers approved by the traffic department in the emirate in which you reside.
  8. Complete all required driving training sessions.
  9. Pass all tests set by the traffic department in the relevant emirate.
  10. Obtain a driving license from the traffic department in the emirate in which you reside
