The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s air defense systems detected 16 ballistic missiles launched today toward the UAE.
According to the official statement, 15 of these ballistic missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed, while one missile fell into the sea without posing a direct threat to the country’s territory.
During the same period, authorities also detected 121 drones, with 119 of them successfully intercepted, while two drones fell within the UAE.
The ministry explained that these figures form part of the broader operational results recorded since the start of the Iranian attacks targeting the country. Since the beginning of these incidents, a total of 221 ballistic missiles have been detected.
Official data shows that 205 of these missiles were destroyed by air defense systems, while 14 missiles fell into the sea and two landed within the UAE’s territory.
In addition, 1305 Iranian drones were detected, of which 1229 were intercepted by the country’s defense systems, while 76 drones fell within the state. Authorities also reported the detection and destruction of eight cruise missiles during the same period.
According to the official report, the attacks resulted in three fatalities involving individuals of Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationalities.
Authorities also recorded 112 minor injuries involving individuals from several nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, and Turkish nationals.
The Ministry of Defense reaffirmed that the UAE armed forces remain fully prepared and ready to respond to any threats that may target the country’s security or territorial integrity.
The ministry emphasized that all defense units continue to operate with high readiness to counter any attempts aimed at destabilizing the nation while ensuring the protection of the UAE’s sovereignty, stability, and national interests.
In a separate development, Abu Dhabi Mobility announced a partial road closure on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, also known as Arabian Gulf Street (E20), in Abu Dhabi.
The closure will take place from Monday, March 9, 2026, until Tuesday, March 17, 2026. In a statement shared on its official account on the social media platform “X,” the authority explained that the closure will affect one right-side lane, advising motorists to follow road signage and traffic instructions to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain road safety during the closure period.
