The United Arab Emirates has confirmed that it is currently acting in self-defense following what it described as an unprovoked and aggressive Iranian attack.
According to official statements, the assault involved the launch of more than 1,400 ballistic missiles and drones that targeted multiple locations across the country. Authorities indicated that the strikes hit critical infrastructure and civilian sites, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries.
The UAE stated that these attacks represent a serious violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, emphasizing that the targeting of civilian areas and infrastructure constitutes a grave breach of the legal principles governing relations between states. Officials stressed that such actions amount to a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The government also warned that the scale and nature of the attacks pose a direct threat to national security and regional stability. The incident has heightened concerns about security across the region, particularly given the large number of missiles and drones reportedly launched during the attack.
Despite the severity of the situation, the UAE reaffirmed that it does not seek to escalate tensions or become drawn into broader regional conflicts. However, the country emphasized that it retains its full right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity.
The UAE further stated that ensuring the safety of its citizens and residents remains a top priority.
It reiterated that any defensive actions taken by the country are based on its legitimate right to self-defense under international law and the United Nations Charter, which recognizes the right of states to defend themselves when faced with armed aggression.
