President Trump urges Iran and Israel to negotiate peace, citing previous diplomatic successes and offering U.S. leadership.
WASHINGTON - Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday called for Iran and Israel to negotiate a peace agreement, expressing optimism that such an accord is achievable.
In a message posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump referenced his previous diplomatic achievements, including facilitating trade talks to ease tensions between India and Pakistan and mediating between Serbia and Kosovo. He also cited his role in addressing the conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
"Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal," Trump wrote, emphasizing that trade initiatives and U.S. leadership can introduce "reason, cohesion, and sanity" to the peace process.
The former president revealed he has been engaged in "many calls and meetings" and projected that peace between the two adversaries could be realized "soon."
"I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK, the PEOPLE understand," he added.
Trump also criticized President Biden's actions, alleging they have hurt the prospects for lasting peace. "I will fix it, again!" he stated.
The statement was issued amid increasing tensions between Israel and Iran. Trump concluded his message with a bold slogan: "MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!" - Agencies
