Dubai has improved traffic around 27 schools as part of its road enhancement strategy.
In the summer of 2025, the Roads and Transport Authority implemented a series of traffic enhancements across ten key locations surrounding school areas in Dubai, impacting a total of 27 schools. This initiative is part of the authority’s strategy to improve the efficiency and smooth flow of the city’s road network, particularly in school zones. The work was strategically carried out during the summer break to minimize disruption to daily traffic, ensuring that high safety standards are maintained at targeted sites.
School Entrances and Exits
The completed works focused on several educational zones including Al Warqaa First, Third, and Fourth; Al Safa First; Al Barsha First; Garhoud; Mizhar First and Fourth; Al Qusais; and South Barsha. Key improvements included widening roads leading to the Al Warqaa school complex, creating parking spaces for teachers and parents in Mizhar and Barsha, constructing entrances and exits for several schools in Mizhar and Warqaa, as well as installing pedestrian signals and calming measures near schools.
These traffic solutions have bolstered Dubai's infrastructure quality while aligning with directives from visionary leadership. The enhancements serve those who frequently use these routes-teachers, bus drivers, parents-all ensuring road safety throughout the emirate’s streets.
Increased Parking Capacity
Traffic improvements have increased parking capacity around some schools by 90%, enhancing traffic flow in some areas by 25% to 40%. These efforts reflect ongoing dedication to developing Dubai’s infrastructure sector, improving traffic efficiency near schools, providing a seamless travel experience for school-goers, thereby enhancing quality of life for Dubai residents.
The authority continues its strategic implementation of quick-fix traffic solutions in school areas under an integrated plan for 2025. Future plans target areas like Al Barsha First, Umm Suqeim Second, South Barsha, and Warqaa with operational strategies developed alongside Dubai Police General HQ to increase capacity and reduce travel time for school commuters.
Commitment to Road Safety Practices
The authority urges bus drivers and parents to adhere strictly to road safety practices when dropping off or picking up children from schools. This includes using designated drop-off zones, avoiding random stops at disabled or emergency vehicle spots, observing bus signals, staying vigilant around student movements near schools, reducing speed accordingly and obeying all signs. Such responsible actions help maintain a safe schooling environment free from accidents.
