Sheikh Mohammed took a symbolic ride on Etihad Rail from Dubai to Fujairah, showcasing his commitment to overseeing key infrastructure developments across the country.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, took a significant journey between Dubai and Fujairah on the Etihad Rail. This event underscores his dedication to personally overseeing crucial infrastructure projects across the UAE.
The commercial operations of Etihad Rail are set to commence in 2026. Through his visit, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the project's alignment with national development goals, highlighting its vast economic, social, and developmental impacts.
"Etihad Rail is a vital economic artery that supports the UAE’s journey to the future," stated Sheikh Mohammed during his tour. "It is pivotal in our vision to establish an integrated transport network that fortifies the UAE’s status as a leading logistics hub."

This significant trip also marks various milestones-from conceptualization in 2021 under 'Projects of the 50' to current freight operations launched this year.

Connecting Cities Nationwide
The upcoming passenger stations in Dubai and Fujairah will serve as central nodes once operational next year-integrating travel experiences nationwide whilst maintaining high standards regarding comfort and reliability.
Upon launch completion connecting eleven cities including prominent hubs such as Abu Dhabi or Sharjah; trains designed reaching speeds up till two hundred km/h aim serving thirty-six point five million passengers annually post-projected steady-state capacity reached beyond decade end.
