The Sharjah Police General Command's security monitoring systems nabbed a driver who attempted to bypass traffic laws by installing fake license plates on his car.

A security investigation revealed that the motorist had incurred 137 traffic offenses, totaling AED 104,730.

Legal action was conducted, recording all violations of his traffic code and reporting him to the Public Prosecutor.

Colonel Omar Mohammed Bu Ghanem, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, stated that the driver's arrest was the consequence of efficient communication between field traffic personnel and the Command and Control Room team.

The vehicle was tracked by advanced security surveillance equipment installed on internal and exterior highways around the emirate.

This allowed specialized teams to identify the vehicle, whose driver had purposefully affixed license plates that differed from those officially registered with traffic authorities in an attempt to confuse and avoid security surveillance systems.

He further stated that close field monitoring resulted in following the vehicle's route, detaining the driver, and impounding the vehicle.

The traffic check found that he had committed 137 offenses totaling AED 104,730, in addition to 308 traffic points, over the vehicle's legal impoundment period, which surpassed 764 days.

He noted that some driver activities, such as installing fake license plates or hiding license plates, are not only traffic violations, but can also result in criminal charges that need legal accountability.

He stated that Sharjah Police, through its smart monitoring and surveillance system, closely monitors such offenses and warns of the dangers of these activities, which represent a direct threat to road safety and the safety of drivers.

He stated that the Sharjah Police General Command would not allow these irresponsible acts and will continue to take firm and deterrent legal action against anyone who dares to violate the restrictions in order to preserve lives and property while also enhancing societal safety and stability.
