Sharjah Traffic Alert: Complete Black Points Waiver Announced for 54th Union Day
SHARJAH – In a major relief for motorists ahead of the 54th Union Day celebrations, Sharjah Police has officially announced a sweeping initiative to clear traffic records.
Brig-Gen Khaled Mohammed Al Kei, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, confirmed on the Al Khat Al Mubashir radio programme that drivers will have a limited opportunity to have their black points completely cancelled.
Here is everything you need to know to take advantage of this initiative.
The 'Golden' Timeframe
To benefit from the black points cancellation, motorists must settle their fines within a specific 40-day window.
Start Date: December 1, 2025
End Date: January 10, 2026
Crucial Detail: This waiver applies to violations committed before December 1, 2025. If you pay your existing fines during this window, the black points attached to them will be wiped out.
Exceptions to the Rule
While the initiative is generous, it is not unconditional. Sharjah Police clarified that "aggravated violations" (serious traffic offenses that endanger lives) are excluded from this waiver. The focus is on clearing standard traffic infractions to encourage safer driving and celebrate Eid Al Etihad.
Double the Benefit: ongoing Discounts
Drivers can combine this new initiative with Sharjah’s existing discount scheme to maximize savings.
35% Discount: Available if payment is made within 60 days of the violation date (covers fine + impound fees).
25% Discount: Available if payment is made between 60 days and one year from the violation date (covers fine only).
The Bottom Line: If you have accumulated black points on your license, this is your best chance to reset your counter to zero while celebrating the UAE’s 54th anniversary.
