The CEO of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, stated that his business wants to work with the UAE on developing self-driving cars. He emphasized that the UAE has a cutting-edge infrastructure that makes it a perfect partner in this area.
As part of the agenda for the second day of the World Government Summit in Dubai, he held a dialogue session with Omar Sultan Al Olama, the minister of state for artificial intelligence, digital economy, and teleworking applications. He stated: "We see in cooperation with the UAE a great opportunity to expand its efforts in the self-driving car sector, because the country has a developed infrastructure, and this is the road plan we are developing now."
"We are ready to partner with Google to expand support for innovation in this area and achieve further technical progress," the scientists stated.
Waymo self-driving cars
In his remarks, Pichai highlighted the impressive advancements made by "Waymo" self-driving cars, which reduced accidents by 78% when compared to human drivers by using artificial intelligence. He also mentioned that "Google" has offered over 4 million trips by self-driving cars, achieving over 150 thousand paid trips per week in the United States, with plans to expand to 10 new cities in 2025. The first international test will take place in Japan.
The CEO of "Google" highlighted the company's technological advancements in artificial intelligence, pointing out that while one of the world's fastest supercomputers took tens of billions of years to solve complex mathematical problems, it was possible to complete these tasks in just five minutes. He also predicted that within ten years, quantum computers would be viable and useful.
Artificial intelligence recommendations
In reference to the advancements in programming and AI, Pichai stated that Google is attempting to assist engineers in writing AI-powered code, since research indicates that 25% of existing codes incorporate AI recommendations and are incorporated by engineers.
