Starting operations on Sunday, January 5, the Orange Line (Line 3) marks the last phase of the Riyadh Metro rollout announced by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). This commemorate the complete running of all six metro lines, therefore improving connection all throughout the city.
Linking the eastern and western areas of Riyadh, the 41-kilometer Orange Line It runs from Jeddah Road in the west toward the second eastern ring road close to Khashm Al-Aan. This development fits the phased implementation schedule established on November 27, 2024, by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, following the project inauguration.
Starting at 6:00 AM on Sunday, customers will be able to board trains at five critical Orange Line stations: Jeddah Road Station, Tuwaiq Station, Douh Station, Harun Al-Rashid Road Station, and Al-Naseem Station. Al-Naseem is most importantly a transfer center that links the Orange Line to the Purple Line.
Three further Blue Line stations-Al-Morooj Station, Bank Al-Bilad Station, and King Fahd Library Station-along with the Orange Line launch are opening. Now providing more services to suit more commuters, the Blue Line stretches from Olaya Street to Batha.
Three lines-the Blue Line (Line 1), the Yellow Line (Line 4), and the Purple Line (Line 6)-started the Riyadh Metro's phased running on December 1. On December 15, the Red Line (Line 2) and the Green Line (Line 5) also came on active state. The Orange Line makes the metro system entirely operational, therefore greatly enhancing public transit options for both locals and tourists.
When the metro network is completed, mobility in Riyadh should be much improved, therefore relieving traffic congestion and providing a sustainable substitute for vehicle trips. Comprising six main lines spanning a total distance of 176 kilometers, the Riyadh Metro is the longest driverless train system in the Middle East and the globe. It links eighty-five stations, four core hubs enabling easy city mobility.
Through the Darb app, ticket offices, self-service kiosks at metro stations, or digital payment alternatives including bank cards, credit cards, and mobile payments, passengers may schedule their travels and buy tickets. From 6:00 AM to midnight, the metro runs daily to guarantee passengers have easy travel.
Passengers may phone the public transport call centre at 19933 for further information; check the Riyadh Public Transport website (www.rpt.sa); or follow official social media accounts for announcements and updates.
